How to Install Peel and Stick Wallpaper
1. Clean & Prep Your Wall
Start with a smooth, dust-free surface. Wipe walls using mild soap and water, then let them dry completely. Avoid textured or freshly painted walls (wait at least 14 days). For lightly textured walls, a quick primer coat helps create a smoother base.
2. Measure & Mark
Use a tape measure and level to mark a plumb line. Measure 24" (the width of your wallpaper) and mark dots down the wall, then connect them with a straight line. This is your guide for the first panel, and getting it straight means the rest will be too! We recommend installing from left to right.
3. Peel the Backing
Gently peel about 12 inches of the paper backing. Don't remove it all at once, and work gradually for better control.
4. Stick & Smooth
Start with a smooth, dust-free surface. Wipe walls using mild soap and water, then let them dry completely. Avoid textured or freshly painted walls (wait at least 14 days). For lightly textured walls, a quick primer coat helps create a smoother base.
5.Trim & Admire Your New Look
Trim edges with a sharp box cutter. Stand back and enjoy your refreshed, magazine-worthy wall!
Pro Tips from Our Vancouver Studio
Insider secrets for flawless installation
Prep for Perfection
For textured walls, apply a thin primer coat first for a stronger grip.
Small prep = stunning finish.
Don't Stretch
Avoid stretching the material and let it relax flat before sticking for perfect alignment and durability
Easy Removal
To remove, gently peel from one corner. A warm hairdryer helps soften the adhesive.
Outlets & Switches
Remove outlet covers before applying, trim around, and re-install for a polished look. Save offcuts so you can cover the plates with wallpaper before screwing them back on!
Moisture Areas
For bathrooms or kitchens, seal edges near moisture with clear caulking.
Renovation Timing
In a renovation, always apply your wallpaper last (building sites are messy and other work can dirty or damage it).
