Ben and Dillon met on a fishing trip in the Northwest — two strangers on a boat, thrown together by mutual friends and a shared hope of catching something big. (spoiler they didn’t.) Somewhere between tangled lines and long conversations, they realised they’d stumbled onto something more interesting than fish.
Dillon was a designer-slash-inventor — the kind of guy who sees a problem and starts sketching a solution before dessert. Ben was the business brain — experienced, practical, and always asking the right questions. One was slightly too obsessed with glue adhesion tests, the other had a thing for spreadsheets.
They started talking about home. Not in the big, abstract way — but in the simple, human way. Why is it so hard to make your space feel like yours when you’re renting? Why does high-quality wallpaper feel like it’s priced for penthouses, not pre-war walk-ups? Why does everything either damage your walls, your lungs, or your bank account?
What started as an idea turned into a mission:
To bring joy to people’s spaces — without the compromise.
That meant wallpaper and wall murals that are:

- Easy to put up and just as easy to remove

- Washable, because life gets messy
- And priced fairly, so it’s actually accessible
They built Wallpaper Online Canada as renters, for renters — people who want to feel at home, even if they don’t own the place.
Today, Wallpaper Online Canada exists to make beautiful, thoughtful design something everyone can have — whether you’ve just bought a loft in Toronto’s King West, a laneway studio in Vancouver, or you’re renting your first Montreal plateau apartment with questionable radiators.
Because everyone deserves to have joy in their space. And no one should need a trust fund — or a hazmat suit — to do it.
