Shape is by Antony Czeto, who is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. His wider work is landscape photography of the West Coast, so this graphic pattern is a departure in style. The design is part of our Canadian Artists collection, printed to order in Vancouver, and every sale earns the artist a royalty.
A white ground carries large salmon-peach circles, light pink heart shapes, bright orange blobs and crosses, deep teal-green triangles and dots, and mustard half-moons. The salmon and pink cover the most area. In daylight the colours are bright and saturated; under lamplight the orange and salmon warm further.
The shapes are medium to large and spaced with white between them, so the pattern reads clearly from across a room. It is energetic because of the contrasting colours, but the white ground keeps it fresh rather than heavy. On a single feature wall it gives a strong focal point.
A living room feature wall is a good place for it, especially behind a plain grey sofa that lets the colours lead. It also suits a home office, a creative studio, or a playroom. It fits modern, mid-century and Scandinavian interiors with simple furniture and light wood.
Shape is supplied in numbered panels, each 24 inches wide, which are hung edge to edge in order. Because the shapes cross panel edges, lining up each seam carefully keeps the circles and triangles whole. Start from a plumb line and work across the wall.
