The roses sit in deep crimson and rose pink, set against full green foliage and a crisp white background. Reds and warm pinks read as energising rather than restful, which suits rooms used for gathering such as a dining room or living room more than a space meant purely for quiet. The white ground keeps the pattern legible rather than heavy.
Each bloom is drawn large, with only a handful of full flowers needed to fill a wall from floor to ceiling. At this scale the pattern reads as a bold motif from across a room rather than a fine texture, so it works best where there is enough wall to let a few repeats show fully, such as a dining or living room feature wall.
The roses, buds and trailing stems are arranged to flow into one another, so the repeat reads as a continuous tangle of blooms rather than a grid of identical flowers. Partial roses and buds sit near the edges of the design, which helps it keep looking natural where panels meet rather than creating a visible seam down the wall.
With a pattern this bold, it works best on the wall you see first on entering the room, or the one the furniture already faces, rather than a wall tucked out of sightline. That way the roses do the work as a focal point instead of competing with a wall nobody really looks at.
Canadian homes dry out over winter once the forced-air heating comes on, and walls move slightly as they do. It helps to hang the paper while the heating is already running rather than in a cold, unheated room, so the material settles at the humidity level it will actually live with day to day.
