Loose watercolour pines and spruces in slate blue, grey and soft sage stand in rows across a warm cream ground, some trees crisp and others faded as if seen through mist. The medium-scale trees give a quiet woodland rhythm. It suits a bedroom, a child's room or a cabin-style den. Whispering Pines Wallpaper is designed by Ontario artist Jenica Goertz.

Whispering Pines is by Ontario surface designer and illustrator Jenica Goertz. She lives on a farm and draws much of her inspiration from the countryside, which comes through in this quiet stand of evergreens. It is part of our Canadian Artists collection, printed to order in Vancouver, and every order pays Jenica a royalty.
The ground is a warm cream, and the trees are painted in slate blue, soft grey and hints of sage, with brown-grey trunks. In daylight the blues look fresh; lamplight warms the cream and softens the trees. In cooler winter light the palette reads misty and grey, which suits the forest theme.
The trees are medium-sized with cream space between them, and the faded watercolour effect means some recede while others stand forward. It reads calm and airy rather than dense. The light ground keeps a room bright. It also sits comfortably on all four walls of a smaller room without closing it in.
A bedroom is a good match – the soft forest feel is restful. It also works in a child’s room, a cottage or cabin den, and an entryway with warm wood furniture. Stylistically it fits rustic, Scandinavian and modern farmhouse interiors.
Yes. Canadian homes are very dry during the heating season and more humid in summer, and wallpaper reacts slightly to that change. Leave the panels in the room for about a day before hanging, with the room at normal living temperature, so the paper is settled when it goes on the wall.
