Midnight Oriental reads like a hand-painted screen pulled from a Kyoto tea house — peacocks perched among flowering cherry branches, rendered in fine cream linework against a dove-grey ground. The drawing style sits somewhere between botanical illustration and traditional sumi-e, with negative space doing as much work as the drawn elements. Scale is generous but not overwhelming — the birds measure roughly 18 inches from crown to tail.
