Eli Nora, a Canadian surface pattern designer, created this design. She trained in architecture and graphic design and is inspired by nature, flowers and organic shapes, which explains the symmetry and careful spacing here. It is part of her Maple Leaf Botanical Expressions series in our Canadian Artists collection, printed to order in Vancouver, with a royalty paid to the artist on each order.
The ground is a warm mushroom beige, with the leaves picked out in soft cream and a slightly deeper taupe shadow, and the curling stems drawn in a fine greige line. In daylight the cream motifs stand out gently; under warm lamps the whole wall glows a little pinker. On a grey Canadian winter afternoon it reads cooler and more muted, close to a stone tone.
Each ornamental cluster is medium scale, with stems arching out from a central leaf in a mirrored layout, so the pattern has a gentle diamond rhythm. It reads as structured but soft, more like a tone-on-tone damask than a busy botanical. The light background and low contrast keep it calm, even across a full wall.
Its symmetry makes it a natural fit for a bedroom behind the headboard or a dining room, where a classic, ordered pattern feels settled. It also works in boho and eclectic rooms with rattan, macrame and terracotta cushions, because the warm beige ties those materials together. In a traditional room it can stand in for a damask with a fresher, botanical feel.
Yes, a 24-inch sample is a good idea with a low-contrast neutral like this. Beige can shift towards pink, grey or sand depending on your light, wall orientation and the colours around it. Tape the sample up near your trim and flooring, and check it in the morning, at midday and under your evening lamps before ordering the full wall.
