Stephanie Dennison, a Canadian artist based on Vancouver Island. She describes herself as a big kid at heart who loves bold patterns and bright colour, and sees creating as a way to capture energy and emotion. This piece is part of our Canadian Artists collection and is printed to order in Vancouver, with a royalty going to Stephanie on every sale.
A saturated azure blue fills the ground and the insides of the pods, and a warm coral-pink line draws every outline and rib. The two sit opposite each other on the colour wheel, so the contrast feels vivid. Daylight brings out the blue; warm lamplight pushes the coral forward. In flatter Canadian winter light the blue holds its strength well.
The pods are medium to large – many are the size of a dinner plate on the wall – and they overlap densely, so there is little plain ground. Up close you see the ribbed lines in each shape; from across the room it becomes a strong, rhythmic blue-and-coral texture. It is a bright, mid-tone background rather than a light one.
It suits spaces that benefit from energy: a home office or study wall, a living room feature wall, or an entryway where it is seen in passing. Its abstract, slightly retro outline style pairs well with warm wood, black metal and white accessories. For a bedroom, keep it to the wall behind the headboard so the colour does not crowd the room.
The panels are printed with latex inks that are Greenguard certified, and the printed surface can be wiped gently with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive pads or strong solvents. On a busy wall like a home office, spot-cleaning scuffs as they happen keeps the bright blue looking even.
